What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique which uses hypnosis to guide an individual into a relaxed and trance like state.

During this time, I will work with the subconscious part of the mind and deliver positive mental suggestions to reduce or alleviate a variety of issues.

The majority of the decisions we make, our behaviours, our emotions and our actions depend on the 90% of subconscious brain activity that is beyond our conscious awareness.

Examples of your subconscious mind can be your beliefs, fears, desires, and memories which you may not be aware of.

Hypnotherapy can access the subconscious mind and speak directly to it to rewire the thought processes and make a positive change!

The list of issues covered at “Time to Talk” is endless but includes:

Confidence, Phobias, Managing Addictions, Anxiety, Self-Esteem, Stress Management, Depression, Smoking Cessation, Improved Sleep, Weight Management, Relaxation, Sports Performance, Overcome Habits, Overcome Trauma and much more.

Common Misconceptions around Hypnotherapy

MYTH: You are asleep during hypnosis

TRUTH: You are not asleep. You are awake but in a relaxed state

MYTH: You are not aware of your environment during hypnosis

TRUTH: You are aware of your surroundings. You can still hear, talk, and come out of trance at anytime

MYTH: The therapist can make you do things you do not want to do e.g. take your clothes off or walk like a chicken

TRUTH: The truth is you are always in control. I cannot make you do something you do not want to do. Stage hypnosis is used to entertain people and is very different to hypnotherapy where it is used as a treatment tool to help an individual overcome a particular issue.

MYTH: You can get stuck in a hypnotic state

TRUTH: You cannot get stuck in the hypnotic state. The hypnotic state is natural and happens on a daily basis e.g., when driving or watching tv

MYTH: The therapist hypnotises you

TRUTH: Actually, you hypnotise yourself I just guide you through the process.

MYTH: You lose control in hypnosis

TRUTH: You are always in control!
